where it felt like you were in a magical place?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I felt it the moment I stepped in the tranquil hills of Sibonga, Cebu, where <strong>Monastry of the Holy Eucharist<\/strong>, or popularly known as <strong>Simala Shrine<\/strong> stands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grand architecture, solemn atmosphere, and the inspiring stories of devotees captivate me, showing the power of  their strong faith and devotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Growing up, I have always heard of Simala Shrine as one of the oldest, holiest, and most beautiful churches in the Fountain<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>1998<\/strong>, <strong>amidst dengue outbreak<\/strong>, many believed the <strong>Virgin Mary<\/strong> shed tears, a sign considered miraculous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was called <strong>\u201cMiraculous Mama Mary Church\u201d<\/strong> and attracted a lot of attention globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can clearly see why this momentous event drew national attention, turning Simala into a pilgrimage site that, even today, continues to attract thousands of visitors from across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image Garden<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Simala Church began as a <strong>modest-sized structure<\/strong> similar to a regular church, and in <strong>2006<\/strong>, the <strong>expansion started<\/strong>, funded by donations from devotees and souvenir sales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stk-plugin-voicecomment voice default l icon_default\"><figure class=\"icon\"><img heart of the compound lies a large garden area with pathways and greenery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ongoing construction outside the shrine closes off some parts; from a stance, I can still admire the landscaping and the peaceful ambiance of the grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"aioseo-the-giant-crown\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Giant_Crown\"><\/span><strong><span the best spots inside the shrine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the pioneering monks built this as an offering of thanksgiving to the Blessed Virgin Mary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The crown serves as a reminder of <strong>faith, resilience,<\/strong> and <strong>devotion<\/strong> even in difficult times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stk-plugin-supplement2 supplement is-style-hint\">\n<p> Bring water, an church of Simala, it feels like being transported to the charm of a fairytale with its <strong>gothic style towers<\/strong> and <strong>ornate decorations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Devotion and beauty were screamed by every corner, and I could feel a good spirit around me, as if I was being guided and protected within the shrine\u2019s walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" Cape<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Stepping inside the main worship hall, I was welcomed by solemn music, murals painted on the ceiling, and an atmosphere of prayer and reverence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the picture shown, it is the <strong>Pandong Cape<\/strong> where Mama Mary holds a long veil and devotees cloak themselves and offer a heartlfelt prayer to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This hall is often filled with devotees attending mass, praying, or simply reflecting in silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"aioseo-mama-mary-shrine\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" <strong>removed my shoes in reverence<\/strong> as the <strong>rule of the church.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was quiet and solemn, and I could see the miraculous image of <strong>Our Lady of Lindogon<\/strong> enshrined before me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can&#8217;t help but feel the faith of people who believe that their prayers have been asnwered, this visit truly feels like the spiritual heart of the whole shrine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stk-plugin-voicecomment voice default l icon_default\"><figure class=\"icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" Affordable, right?<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Lighting a candle is an act that symbolizes one&#8217;s faith, prayer, and hope, and that part of visiting in Simala is what I used to love, for there was a purpose for each candle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, during my last visit, I discovered that the shrine had already <strong>gotten rid of that meaning list<\/strong>. Hence, the candles no longer carried specific symbolic intentions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a bittersweet feeling for me.
